Tbilisi, Georgia

POSTCARDS | Sep 8

I love Tbilisi. There’s something about this city that just draws me in, like a dancer reeling their partner in for a spin so they can dance together closely.

Tbilisi is full of old world charm. There’s so much beauty here - from the charming alleyways in Dzveli Tbilisi, to the neoclassical architecture in Chugureti, to the lush urban gardens scattered throughout the city. Every time I walk around the city, I’m filled with awe and wonder. I think one of the reasons why I fell in love with Tbilisi is because it reminds me of Edinburgh, especially the similarity of the view and vibe between Tbilisi’s Narikala Fortress and Edinburgh Castle.

I could easily see myself coming back to Tbilisi and staying for here for an extended period of time. I’m so at ease here. Part of it is because there’s a bit of safety and in the familiarity of being in a Westernized country, but the other part is that there’s just something so magical about this city.

For the past couple of months I had felt a tug in my gut pulling me to Georgia, and now that I’m here I can see why. I’m so glad to be here.
