Dreams crumb true
Notice anything unusual about this picture of croissants?

That’s right — homegirl is working at a bakery, specifically a croissanterie. 🥐 🥐
It’s kind of wild. For the longest time, my dream was to work at a bakery (and as a yoga instructor) … and I’m living it. I’m actually living my dream right now, and I still can’t quite believe that it’s real. It’s been a combination of meeting some incredible people who have given me amazing opportunities, and me making all of this happen. There’s some magic in the air.
I’m working front of house, filling in for whenever the cafe (cafe because they also serve some pretty darn good coffee) needs an extra hand. It’s not a regular job, but I don’t mind because I’m getting to live my dream of working in a bakery. I’m so incredibly happy while working there because how is it not possible to exude joy in a place that connects humans over life’s simple pleasures? I love being able to share this love and joy with the customers, and every time I step into the kitchen to watch dough being laminated or croissants being shaped, I’m just filled with awe, joy, and wonder.
Date and butterscotch tarte tatins in progress
Over the past two days I’ve taken countless orders, sampled (almost) every pastry we sell, mixed the mince for the sausage rolls (so damn good), folded the pastry for the date and butterscotch tarte tatin (prob my favorite sweet pastry), weighed out coffee beans, taste tested potential menu items, and learned how to make an iced matcha. I’ve been surrounded by and interacted with intelligent, kind, and wonderful people from all kinds of cool and fascinating backgrounds. And I’m constantly enveloped in love: passion for the pastry, devotion to the craft, and joy from the community.
Oh, and the bakery? Home Croissanterie 🥐.
My very pretty (first ever!) iced matcha latte, made by me.
