Let the madness begin
It’s that time of year again…March Madness!
The month where the most vasectomies take place in the US.
The month where fans are glued to multiple screens, whether they be television scattered around a bar or computer monitors perched on a trading desk, intensely watching college athletes dribble a ball across a court.
The month where crazy storylines and wild upsets produce the most engaging four weeks of basketball competition.
I miss being back in the US during this time; it’s not the same when you don’t get to engage with others who are just as invested as you. Part of the allure of March Madness is getting to marvel and moan and shout and scream with other fans who are just as passionate and just as crazy about the game as you.
My family are also keen watchers, thanks to my brother and I attending an university with a very famous basketball program, and my mom is one of Carolina’s biggest fans. Attending an in-person game every year has been a tradition I’ve been unable to keep up with while traveling and living abroad. But that’s one of the sacrifices I’ve chosen to make when continuing my life on the opposite side of the world.
